"Incredibly elegant and finesse-driven, yet still has plenty of fruit and texture. With an almost Rayas-like floral character and elegance, it's medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, has integrated acidity, and a beautiful finish." Jeb Dunnuck
Winemaker Alex Kanzler produces just 2,000 cases of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the fog-tinged hills of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. The renowned 14-acre Kanzler Vineyard was one of the first planted in the Sebastopol Hills neighborhood. Here, deeply stirring flavors come from an interplay of Gold Ridge soil, Pacific Ocean fog, warm light, and wind. Kanzler handcrafts each vintage himself, and applies organic farming practices including the avoidance of synthetic herbicides. His wife Breauna Kanzler allocates bottles via mailing list during Fall and Spring Offerings. She also hosts private tastings for overnight guests of the estate's four-bedroom Farm Stay. KANZLER bottles can be found in restaurants such as Boulevard in San Francisco, Valette in Healdsburg, and Tamarind Tribeca in New York City. The vineyard’s sought-after grapes have also been featured in vineyard designate wines by other top producers such as Kosta Browne, Landmark, Lynmar Estate, and Flowers; the vineyard is the source of over 60 wines rated 90 to 98 points by Wine Spectator.
