Emeritus wines reflect the character of the highly desirable Goldridge soils and the personality of the strong maritime influence. The style of Emeritus Pinot Noir is best described as one of elegance, balance, and—especially—charm. Soil gives wine its character, climate gives wine its personality, and man gives wine its spirit or style. Brice Jones, Founder and President
Emeritus was founded by Brice Cutrer Jones and his long-time partners in 1999 when they purchased the historic Hallberg Ranch. Brice was drawn to this property because of the highly sought after Goldridge soil and marine influence that comes from its proximity to the coast. In their quest to produce the best Pinot Noir The Emeritus Team set out to dry farm their vineyards in 2007. It is now the largest dry farmed vineyard in Sonoma County, possibly in the state.
Hallberg Ranch is synomous with top tier fruit and sustainable farming practices. Each single vineyard Pinot is a unique expression of the vineyard it comes from paired with the people who bring the fruit to life as wine.
